2014 Nantong International Contemporary Craft competition which is organized by World Crafts Council AISBL (WCC),China Arts &Crafts Association (CACA) and Nantong State-owned Real Estate Corporation Ltd. has been officially launched.
2014 Nantong International Craft Biennale is pleased to present the theme on“Past, Today and Future of Arts and Crafts”and sincerely invited the world artists to participate in the competition.
Our intention is to acknowledge the value of craft which has developed between familiarity and originality in the course of time and space, and to explore its various futures.
With this in mind, the 2014 Nantong International Craft Biennale intents to respond such philosophical questions as “tradition and modern”, “Aesthetics and function” , “Content and Form” and reveal the real level of modern and contemporary arts and crafts.
Awarded works of the competition will be arranged by the committee to be exihibited on the 2014 Nantong Internationa lContemporary Craft Biennale. The Competition Organizing Committee will invite over ten international experts as the juries. Grand,Gold, Silver, Bronze prizes and Selected award are set, Grand,Gold, silver and Bronze awarded works will be reserved by the competition Organizing Committee.
The competition will be divided into two stages. During the first stage,participants need to accomplish the ONLINE Application from according to the intruductions on the website (www.nticb.com) and provide the electronic pictures and introductions of the entry work.
The second stage, selected works which will be informed after the first stage (actual artwork) need to be sent to the designated address via specified shipping company.
The detailed instructions as below:
Sculpture（Woodwork or Stonework and ect.）,Ceramics ,Metal craft, Lacquerware, Glass, Fiber Art , Weave (bamboo weaving ,straw weaving ,Textile etc.), Carpet & Tapestry，Jewellery, Traditional crafts（eg. Printing and Dyeing，Traditional Culture Costume etc.）,Embroideryas well as other 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional works that creatively constructs the contemporary craft art values of functionality or aesthetics using natural or man-made materials.
Qualifications for entry
-An original piece of work made within the last 3 years which has not yet been exhibited domestically or internationally.
-Size, weight and form needs to be appropriate for indoor display and transportation.
-Art work is subject to disqualification if it is deemed to have been plagiarized from another work.
Individuals or groups (no more than 3 persons per group) of all nationalities and genders are welcome to apply.

Works must not exceed 200cm in width, height and length after installation.

·After applied online successfully ,Send Total of 6 digital images of the art work(best overview image of the work (1 photo), front view (1 photo), both sides (2 photos), details (2 photos))to specified email address.At least one photo shows the comparative size of the work with a familiar object.
*Name the pictures as“confirmation number_artist__category_title of thework _picture’s number.jpg”
*Use the confirmation number as the title of the email (e.g. entry 0095).
* Digital Image Quality and Form: above 300dpi, jpg image file of at least 2MB

▸Stage 2> Submission of the actual artwork
-Submission of the art work:
·Entry work (should be identical to art in the images), directions for method of display,and art work condition report.
* Please affix theconfirmationnumber and work image assigned by the Committee on the package holding the art work.
* The art work condition report will be checked by both the shipping company and the Committee.
-Method of submission: Registration in person (10:00~ 17:00) or via shipping (shipping cost to be paid by artist)

-Assessment period: September 2014
-Announcement:September 2014, Website (Successful applicants will be notified privately)
*Grand Prize and Gold Award Winners will be invited to the Awards Ceremony on the opening ceremony of 2014 Nantong International Crafts Biennale,and given a priority status in public relations activities of the artist’s work as well as in upcoming 2014 Nantong International Craft Biennale exhibitions and workshops.
Awards and Cash Prizes
*The Cash Prize from Grand Award to Bronze Award includes work purchasing cost, and each work will be held by the Committee.
*Award money inU.S dollaris the amountbeforetaxes have been deducted, and the winner need to pay for the taxes.
*Grand Award and Gold Award winners will be invited to the award ceremony at the expense of the host(For group entries, 1 representative will be invited)
*The awardedworks will be edited in the 2014 nantong international crafts biennale album, entry of the competition will be regarded as the authorization of using the copyright of the entry work by the Organizing Committee.
Awards Ceremony and Exhibition

-Works: All awarded works accepted for the exhibition
Shipping and Packaging
- Specified professional art work shipping company will be arranged by the Committee. See the “Shipping instructions” (which is provided by shipping company) for details.
-Domestic: The artist is responsible for the shipping and return shipping of the work.
-Abroad: Foreign artists are responsible for the shipping of their foreign artworks to the Committee. The Committee is responsible for return shipping, where applicable.Only part of the artists could aplly fot the shipping allowence,please contact the Committee for details.
-In cases when the specified professional art work shipping company is not used (i.e. by post), the artist (sender) is responsible for all fees including delivery fees and additional fees such as customs tax or extra charges incurred in the delivery of the work to the 2014 Nantong International Craft Biennale. The Committee will not be responsible for any shipping or other fee(s).
- When using a parcel delivery service, the artwork must be sent to the Committee using the"door-to-door" delivery option.
-The artist is responsible for safe delivery of the craft/work to minimize damages. For thereturn of the work, the artist must make inner and outer box for safe packaging (enclosemoisture-proofing for fibers or paper works).
-The Committee will not be liable for any damages to the art work occurred during the shipment of the work.
-Art works from overseas must pass through customs and a custom’s declaration must beclearly attached.
-When preparing the Art Work Condition Report, please attach (1) directions for Craft Display (warnings for installation), (2) the confirmation number and work image allocated by the Committee from the Stage 1 Evaluation on the outside of the packaging.
-Artist is responsible for the insurance of the work until the point the work arrives at the exhibition space o fNantong International Craft Biennale. The Committee is notresponsible for problems that occur to uninsured work.
- The Committee will be responsible for artworks from the time of their arrival until theirreturn to the artist.
※If the art work has been damaged during shipment, the Committee and the artist will negotiate whether the art work will be exhibited.
※The artist must clearly state the insured value of the artwork.
-Submitted documents will not be returned.
-Should any work reveal inconsistency with images submitted for the 1st screening, or is otherwise incomplete (damaged), wrecked, shown at a previous exhibition, or proven to be plagiarized, will be, subject to the decision of the jurors, excluded and rejected from final assessment and exhibition.
-All art works that pass Stage 1 Evaluation are considered competition works, and worksthat pass Stage 2 Evaluation will be decided whether they will be given higher prizes.
-Disqualified art work will not be exhibited or given an award.
-All matters pertaining to the directing of the exhibition will be conducted by the Committee.
-Art work cannot be shipped out during the exhibition period.
In cases when art work is not to be returned,Please mark clearly, that you would not like the art work to be returned on the registration
form by checking the box“Do not return artwork”(All artwork not returned will be deemed as‘donations’to the organization)
